Building Design Competition (KRB – Kompetisi Rancang Bangun) 2026 Promotes Sustainable Construction Innovation and Strengthens Nationwide Student Networking

The Undergraduate Civil Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University, in collaboration with the Civil Engineering Student Association (HMS – Himpunan Mahasiswa Sipil), organized the Building Design Competition (KRB – Kompetisi Rancang Bangun) 2026 from May 8–10, 2026, at the Civil Engineering Study Program, Jimbaran Campus, and the Widya Sabha Auditorium of Udayana University. Carrying the theme “Sustainable Construction Innovation for Realizing Future Green Infrastructure,” the event brought together university students and high school students from various regions of Indonesia as a platform to foster creativity, innovation, and competency in civil engineering through a series of national-level competitions.

The event was officially opened by the Vice Dean III for Student Affairs and Information of the Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University, I Gusti Ketut Sukadana, S.T., M.T., who attended on behalf of the Rector of Udayana University. In his remarks, he expressed appreciation to all organizers and participants while emphasizing the important role of the younger generation in developing innovations that support sustainable infrastructure development. KRB 2026 is an annual flagship program of HMS, chaired by I Wayan Grant Utamaniu, and supported by the Undergraduate Civil Engineering Study Program under the coordination of Ir. Ida Ayu Made Budiwati, M.Sc., Ph.D.

KRB 2026 featured several national competitions, including the National Paper Competition (NPC), National Concrete Competition (NCC), National Earthquake-Resistant Building Competition (NERBC), as well as a National Paper Competition for Senior High School and Vocational High School Students (SMA/SMK or equivalent). The event series included scientific paper presentations, testing of innovative concrete materials, evaluation of earthquake-resistant building models, and assessments conducted by a panel of judges consisting of academics and industry practitioners. In addition to the competitions, finalists participated in a field trip to Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Cultural Park, where they had the opportunity to learn about one of Bali’s cultural landmarks while strengthening connections with fellow participants from different regions of Indonesia.

Through the organization of KRB 2026, participants successfully showcased a wide range of sustainable construction ideas and innovations, reflecting the high level of creativity and capability of Indonesia’s younger generation in civil engineering. The Civil Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University (FT Unud – Fakultas Teknik Universitas Udayana) hopes that this event will continue to serve as a platform for developing the potential of students and young learners while fostering collaboration in support of sustainable, high-quality, and globally competitive infrastructure development in Indonesia
